YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD - TALK BY JILL COURTNEY
When she was sixty, Jill and her husband bought a 16 acre orchard that had once belonged to Whitewat's Cider Company and decided to try making their own cider. Courtney's Devon Cider sold well, but when their son advised them to change the name to Silly Moo Cider , with a suitable illustration of a daft looking cow, their sales doubled!
Since then their business has gone from strength to strength and now includes apple juice, cider vinegar and a range of jams, dressings, honey and chutneys. The apples are never sprayed and she only uses natural ingredients in all her products. Her lively and infectious enthusiasm was the perfect illustration of the title of her talk.
This month's competition for a small drinking glass was won by Sheila Baker.
