the annual general meeting
We spent some time listening to Claire Crouch talking about the WI Resolution to encourage women to take the smear test, called 'Don't Fear the Smear' and Beryl Kingman talking about improving the bus services to rural areas. We then took a vote to pass them both. Marion Baker told us all about her trip to the Spring Council Meeting in Torquay. There was a break with wine and refreshments before the business meeting.
Beryl Kingman has agreed to stay on as President for another year and most of the committee remain in situ. Christine Bull and Glenys Shaw, both long term committee members are taking a rest, and were thanked for all their hard work. Alice Price was welcomed as a new committee member. The president and secretary gave reports on our very successful centenary year and Barbara Ellis told us that we did very well on our Open Day on May 6th, taking in the region of £1,000, although the exact figure has yet to be finalised. The meeting agreed that we should pay for the printing costs of 'Herstory', a collection of the reminiscences of many of our members to commemorate our centenary
