DFWI VISIT TO DENMAN 29 SEPTEMBER TO 1 OCTOBER 2017
The Devon federation provided a coach to take WI members to Denman College and eight members from Sidford WI went along to enjoy the courses on offer. Four members of the choir enjoyed learning the songs of the Carpenters, two did a water colour and ink course, one did ribbon embroidery - Monet style and one learnt about the history of London markets.
The course tutors, as always were very good. The accommodation was a high standard - bedrooms are cosy and clean with ensuite shower rooms. Every meal was superb with great choices and high quality food. Some light entertainment was provided for us on Saturday evening by a WI member who recited a Pam Ayres poem - Fifty Shades of Grey, performed a magic trick and then everyone joined in with a light hearted sing-along.
The Sidford group really enjoyed their courses, worked really hard and also produced some work to bring home.
During the coffee break on our last day the choir sang a number of the Carpenters songs they had learnt - the performance received a standing ovation!
