A presentation on hypnotheraphy
Grace Jones explained that hypnosis is like the state of trance that we often refer to as 'daydreaming'. Popularised by Frank Mesmer in the nineteenth century, who would hypnotise or 'mesmerise' people in from of an audience, it is now recognised as a useful tool in the relief of pain and the treatment of mental problems such as panic attacks, phobias, depression and anxiety. It can also help people to lose weight or to give up smoking, although there are no absolute guarantees. There is no danger in your mind being 'taken over' by the hypnotist, or of revealing private information. A hypnotherapist should be registered with a professional body and you are usually offered a free initial consultation.Claire Crouch thanked Grace for an interesting and informative talk.
