freewheelers - our charity 2014
Freewheelers was founded in 2009 by Daniel Lavery after a similar organisation provided an emergency delivery of blood and saved the lives of his wife and new born son.
The organisation costs £110,00 approx to run per annum. Around 2,000 deliveries covering over 53,000 miles throughout Devon were carried out last year.
They respond to non-urgent, urgent and emergency calls from hospitals, GPs, clinics and pharmacies, delivering blood, pathology samples, breast milk and drugs. They also have a transplant team.
Les May provided an enthusiastic insight into the organisation. He was presented with a cheque for £500 and also the raffle takings. Margaret gave a personal thank you to Freewheelers who delivered blood to the hospital when she suffered a hemorrhage. A collection was taken at the meeting.
